How to tell Hojari frankincense grades apart

Omani Hojari frankincense is not one grade on the shelf. At Nawader Al Luban we list four clear grades, and each product page states what that grade is for: chewing, drinking, everyday burning, or formal burning. This guide follows those descriptions so you can choose a grade before you compare price.

First-grade Dhakar: everyday, more than one use

First-grade Dhakar Hojari frankincense

First-grade Dhakar Hojari is a pale green, or white leaning to green, with an even shape. Burned, the scent is light and clean with a mild acidic note. The product page lists three everyday uses: chewing, drinking, and burning.

If you want one grade at home that covers more than a single habit, start here. It is not our strongest incense grade, and that is the point: the smoke stays light.

Sultani: formal burning only

Sultani Hojari is for formal burning, not for chewing or drinking. The pieces are larger, the resin is clearer, and the frankincense smell is stronger and more aromatic than our other grades. We describe it for gatherings and special occasions, because the trail on the coal is clearer and lasts longer.

If the question is which grade fills a majlis, the answer in our range is Sultani, not first-grade Dhakar and not the everyday pieces.

Royal Green: the rarest, with a lemon note

Royal Green Hojari frankincense

Royal Green Hojari is the rarest grade we sell. The color is a clear green, and it comes from the frankincense tree, Boswellia sacra, in Dhofar. The scent is light and fresh, with a soft lemon-like acidity. That is the opposite of Sultani, which is a heavier frankincense smell.

The page describes a traditional use: chewing, drinking, and high-purity personal care. We do not sell it as majlis incense. Choose it for rarity and clarity, not for the strongest smoke.

First-grade pieces: practical daily burning

First-grade resin pieces are medium to large, with a gentle, clean frankincense smell, for repeated use at home. This is a practical burning grade. It does not replace Sultani for a gathering, or Royal Green for chewing.

A short way to choose

  • A daily habit of chewing, drinking, and light burning: first-grade Dhakar.
  • A gathering and a clear frankincense trail: Sultani.
  • The rarest grade, green, with a lemon note, for chewing and drinking: Royal Green.
  • Quiet, repeated burning: the resin pieces.

For drinking, our FAQ describes soaking a small piece of Hojari frankincense in water for six to eight hours, then straining it, without overdoing it. The note is on the FAQ page, and each grade’s own page still states how that grade is meant to be used.
